Algarve towns roll out free outdoor summer fitness programmes

The municipality of Quarteira has published a week‑long summer agenda (July 11‑17, 2026) featuring daily outdoor activities such as sunrise Zumba, senior gymnastics, fitness classes, a 4 × 4 volleyball tournament, capoeira, yoga, Pilates and live music performances across local plazas and the market area.

In nearby Lagoa, the council launched the “Aquafit Natureza – Mind & Body” project, offering free Saturday sessions at 11:00 in the Bay of Santa Cruz. The programme includes yoga, mobility exercises, breathing and relaxation techniques, and is linked to the opening of a new beachfront bar and the continued redevelopment of the bay area with additional leisure facilities.

Both initiatives aim to encourage regular physical activity, promote healthy lifestyles and increase public use of coastal public spaces in the Algarve region of Portugal.
