Algeciras forest fire brought under control after five-hour operation

A forest fire in the Las Pantallas area of Algeciras has been brought under control after approximately five hours of intervention. The blaze began shortly before 15:30 on Thursday and was declared controlled by 20:20.

The Plan Infoca deployed a significant response to manage the flames, which included 14 forest firefighters, an operations technician, and a water tender vehicle. The aerial component consisted of two heavy-lift helicopters and two light amphibious aircraft, including one helicopter from the Ministry for Ecological Transition.

The fire was considered stabilized by 17:30, as active fronts capable of spreading the flames freely were no longer detected, though ground crews continued working to secure the perimeter until full control was achieved.
