Algeciras municipal elevators found with expired inspections

Several elevators in municipal buildings managed by the Algeciras City Council are operating with expired mandatory periodic inspections. Reports indicate that at least 17 elevators had inspection deadlines that passed on August 22, despite notifications from the service provider, Otis Mobility SA, being received in late September.

Specific instances of expired inspections include elevators at the La Escuela building, the Ciudad de Algeciras sports center, the former Military Hospital on Convento Street, and the City Hall itself. Additionally, the José Luis Cano Documentary Center has an operational elevator lacking the required identification label.

This maintenance lapse occurs amid a political crisis in the municipality following the resignation of the mayor and an upcoming motion of censure.
