Algeciras residents protest road works on Avenida de Francia over parking loss

Andrés Maderal, spokesperson for the local civic platform 100×100 Unidos por Algeciras, inspected the ongoing road works on Avenida de Francia in the San José Artesano district. He reported significant delays and the removal of parking spaces without prior consultation with neighbourhood residents and merchants. Maderal criticised the execution of the project, stating that while improvements are welcome, the municipal government must engage in dialogue with those directly affected. The platform reiterated its support for projects that genuinely enhance the city, but demanded that local voices be heard before works commence. Earlier, Maderal had highlighted neglect on Avenida Agustín Bálsamo, prompting the mayor to announce forthcoming upgrades.
