Algeria accelerates road network and highway maintenance projects
Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, has ordered an acceleration of road construction and maintenance projects across the country to improve traffic fluidity and infrastructure safety.
During inspections in Algiers, Djellaoui reviewed several key projects, including a new 14.5-kilometer coastal road connecting the mouth of Oued El-Harrach to Tamentfoust. This project, part of the city’s ‘Blue Plan’ strategic development, is co-financed by the state and the wilaya. Additionally, the minister inspected a 200-meter overpass near Djamaâ El-Djazaïr, a project being executed by SAPTA and Cosider Ouvrages d’art.
In a separate coordination meeting, the minister also addressed the national highway maintenance program. He instructed teams to intensify interventions on the East-West Highway and address identified ‘black spots’ in various provinces. The discussions focused on repairing bridge expansion joints, managing landslides, and ensuring the timely completion of development projects and interchanges.
