Nikitas Kaklamanis, President of the Hellenic Parliament, is conducting an official visit to Algeria to strengthen bilateral ties. During the visit, a protocol for parliamentary cooperation was signed between the Greek Parliament and the Algerian Council of the Nation, establishing a permanent institutional framework for coordination and expertise exchange.
A parliamentary friendship group between Algeria and Greece has also been established to facilitate ongoing dialogue. The visit included high-level meetings, including an audience with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, where discussions focused on economic and social cooperation. Key areas of interest include energy, renewable energy, maritime transport, tourism, agriculture, and the pharmaceutical industry.
President Tebboune expressed interest in organizing a Greece-Algeria business forum to promote Greek investment in Algeria and noted the need for Greek technological expertise in the agricultural sector. Additionally, efforts are underway to establish an air connection between Algiers and Athens by the end of 2026.
