Algeria and Mauritius implement new economic and productivity strategies

In Algeria, the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE) is reviewing three major reports aimed at improving public action efficiency. These reports, requested by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, address the financing and effectiveness of industrial and commercial public establishments, the rise of private tutoring outside official schools, and breast cancer care management.

CNESE President Mohamed Boukhari emphasized that these initiatives seek to balance public service missions with financial viability and economic efficiency. The council aims to optimize resource use and improve governance to better serve citizens.

In Mauritius, the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC) is developing a National Productivity Masterplan to combat declining labor, capital, and multi-factor productivity. NPCC Executive Director Dr. Vinaye Ancharaz announced that the new strategy will shift from a bottom-up approach to a top-down vision covering all economic sectors.

Collaborating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the NPCC intends to foster a national culture of productivity, drawing inspiration from the developmental models of Japan and Singapore.
