Algeria and Niger accelerate joint electricity and renewable projects
Algerian Energy Minister Mourad Adjal and Nigerien Energy Minister Amadou Haoua held a video conference to speed up the implementation of bilateral electricity cooperation. The talks covered the progress of a 40‑megawatt mobile gas‑turbine power plant, electrification of the Agadez region, and reinforcement of transmission networks in Agadez and Niamey. They also discussed establishing a central warehouse for electrical equipment and supporting the restructuring of Niger's power utility, NIGELEC. Both sides agreed to broaden partnership into renewable energy, grid development, engineering studies and expert exchanges, in line with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s South‑South cooperation policy.
The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continuous coordination and periodic monitoring to accelerate these projects and strengthen energy development between the two nations.
