Algeria and Spain sign red meat cooperation agreements
Algerian and Spanish organizations have signed two cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening the red meat sector. The agreements were finalized in Algiers during a bilateral meeting titled ‘Uniting markets, strengthening the sector’.
The first agreement establishes a framework between the Algerian meat company ALVIAR (a subsidiary of the AGROLOG group) and the Spanish interprofessional organizations INTEROVIC and PROVACUNO. The second agreement connects these Spanish organizations with the National Syndicate of Red Meat Importers in Algeria.
Key objectives of the partnership include the exchange of information and expertise, the improvement of animal breeds, and logistical cooperation. Stakeholders indicated that the partnership could lead to Spanish operators establishing a presence in Algeria to modernize slaughterhouses and develop intensive livestock farming in the southern regions through the transfer of technology and know-how.
In preparation for the upcoming month of Ramadan, officials stated that necessary measures are being taken to ensure supply stability. The National Syndicate of Red Meat Importers confirmed that preparations began six months in advance to prevent any supply shortages during the holy month.
