Algeria and Tunisia implement new resource and energy infrastructure measures
In Algeria, the 2027 Finance Bill proposes a new royalty of 500 dinars per cubic meter for the exploitation of Sahara sand. This measure, outlined in Article 182, aims to generate public revenue from resources currently used in construction, public works, and industrial activities across 17 southern provinces. The proposal covers various types of sand, including those from fixed or mobile dunes and accumulations from sandstorms.
In Tunisia, a 200 million dinar gas pipeline project, known as the El Mourouj-Zriba-M’saken project, is being accelerated to strengthen national natural gas transport. Managed by the Société tunisienne de l’électricité et du gaz (STEG) and funded by the Islamic Development Bank, the project includes a 78.1-kilometer main pipeline. The infrastructure is designed to ensure energy supply continuity, particularly for power plants during high-demand summer periods.
