Algeria calls for eco-responsible water consumption
Algeria’s Ministry of Hydraulics and the National Agency for Sanitary Security (ANSS) have issued a joint appeal for eco-responsible water consumption. The agencies are urging citizens and national stakeholders to adopt sustainable habits to preserve vital water resources.
The call comes as water availability becomes increasingly vulnerable due to rising temperatures, heatwaves, decreased precipitation, and worsening drought conditions. Officials noted that ensuring access to safe, potable water is essential for public health, quality of life, and socio-economic development. They warned that limited access to clean water could lead to significant environmental, sanitary, social, and economic repercussions.
