Algeria condemns Israeli actions in Somalia, Syria, and Lebanon at UN

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf addressed regional stability and international governance. Attaf accused Israel of attempting to divide Somalia and reaffirmed Algeria’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Attaf also condemned ongoing Israeli military actions in Syria and Lebanon, noting that civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip continue despite ceasefire agreements. He reiterated Algeria’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

On the global stage, the Foreign Minister criticized the current international system, citing a decline in trust between nations and an increasing reliance on force over multilateral solutions. He called for the reform of the United Nations to create a more representative and just international order capable of responding to modern global shifts.
