Algeria defeats Jordan 2-1 in World Cup 2026 group match

Algeria beat Jordan 2-1 in the second round of Group 10 at the 2026 World Cup, held at the San Francisco Bay Arena. Jordan opened the scoring through Nizar Rashdan in the 35th minute. Algeria equalised via Ahmed Nadhir Ben Bouali in the 68th minute and secured the win with Amin Ghouiri’s goal in the 82nd minute.

The victory gave Algeria three points, restoring its hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage after an opening‑day loss to Argentina. Jordan, eliminated with zero points, became the second Arab team to leave the tournament after Tunisia. Jordan coach Jamal Salami praised his side’s performance despite the defeat, while goalkeeper Yazeed Abu Leila issued a public apology to fans. Jordanian midfielder Mohand Abu Taha ranked fifth overall for ball recoveries in the tournament after the first two matches.

Group 10 also includes Argentina and Austria, with Argentina leading the group and Austria close behind. Algeria’s win keeps it in contention for the second qualifying spot.
