Algeria deploys Su-30 fighter jets to Niger

Algeria has deployed Sukhoi Su-30MKA multirole fighter jets to Niamey, Niger, following a request from Nigerien authorities. The deployment, which included an Ilyushin Il-78 tanker aircraft, aims to strengthen airspace surveillance and security in the capital.

This military move follows a failed mutiny attempt against the military junta led by General Abdourahamane Tiani. While the internal clashes have concluded, the presence of Algerian heavy combat aircraft serves as a deterrent and signals regional support for the Tiani government.
