Algeria Dismantles Transnational Organized Crime Network

Algerian security forces from the Service for the Fight against Drugs and Psychotropics of the National Gendarmerie carried out a raid in Algiers on 28 June 2026, dismantling a cross‑border organized‑crime network. The operation led to the arrest of twelve suspected narcotraffickers and the seizure of a large cache of drugs, including four quintals of processed cannabis, 2,966 psychotropic tablets, ten tourist vehicles, a motorcycle, cash valued at over one billion centimes, and numerous mobile phones. Authorities said the action continues efforts to block the introduction and distribution of toxic substances in the country and highlighted the professionalism and vigilance of the armed forces in combating organized crime.
