Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia reject foreign interference in Libya

Foreign ministers from Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia met in Algiers as part of the Tripartite Mechanism of Libya's neighboring countries to coordinate positions on the Libyan crisis. The ministers—Ahmed Attaf of Algeria, Badr Abdelatty of Egypt, and Mohamed Ali El-Nafti of Tunisia—issued a joint statement reaffirming their categorical rejection of all forms of foreign interference in Libyan affairs.

The ministers emphasized that external interventions have been a primary cause of the prolonged crisis and deepened divisions among Libyan factions. They called for the immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces, mercenaries, and foreign fighters from Libyan territory in accordance with international resolutions.

The tripartite mechanism stressed the importance of a Libyan-led political process facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). The ministers advocated for the unification of all Libyan institutions, including military and security sectors, to create the necessary conditions for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. The group also noted that a comprehensive approach must address the economic and social dimensions of the crisis to ensure sustainable stability.
