Algeria energy future debated following E3G oil report

A report by the European think tank E3G, titled ‘Oil Endgame’, has sparked debate regarding the future of hydrocarbon-dependent nations such as Algeria, Angola, and Nigeria. Some French experts have used the report to warn that these countries may soon struggle to maintain social stability due to their reliance on oil and gas.

However, the E3G projections, which suggest a sharp contraction in hydrocarbon demand starting in 2030, are contested by other major institutions. OPEC forecasts global oil demand to reach 113.3 million barrels per day in 2030 and 124 million in 2050, while the International Energy Agency (IEA) provides a more moderate estimate of approximately 105.5 million barrels per day by 2030.
