Algeria establishes permanent committee to monitor import requests
Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb has officially installed a permanent committee responsible for monitoring and processing import requests. This move follows instructions from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and is based on executive decree n° 26-327 issued on October 13, 2026.
The committee includes the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, the Minister of Finance, a representative from the Bank of Algeria, the president of the Association of Professional Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF), and the president of the Economic Renewal Council of Algeria (CREA).
The committee is tasked with reviewing all import operation requests. It will prioritize urgent processing for sensitive or high-priority products necessary for national market supply and the operation of production units. The goal is to support economic activities, investment projects, and ensure the availability of goods and services for citizens.
In response, the CREA, led by Kamel Moula, expressed satisfaction with the decision, noting that the initiative will strengthen channels of dialogue and consultation between the government and economic actors.
