Algeria-Europe maritime services face delays and new winter bookings
Maritime transport services between Algeria and Europe are seeing both operational challenges and new seasonal planning. Algérie Ferries is facing significant passenger criticism following service disruptions at the end of the summer season. Travelers on the Algiers–Marseille route reported delays of up to 24 hours and the removal of cabins, forcing families with young children to stay in corridors for nearly two days.
In contrast, the Spanish company Baleària has opened bookings for the 2026/2027 winter season on its routes connecting Spain and Algeria. The company plans to offer up to five weekly departures, including connections from Valencia and Barcelona to Algiers, Oran, and Mostaganem. Other companies, such as Corsica Linea and Nouris Elbahr Ferries, have also opened reservations for their winter crossings.
