Algeria expands trade ties with Cameroon and Vietnam

Algeria's state‑owned Madar Holding sent a delegation to Douala on July 9 2026, meeting Cameroon’s National Cocoa and Coffee Board and the Cocoa and Coffee Inter‑professional Council to discuss possible supply agreements for coffee and to explore other agricultural value chains. The talks built on existing Cameroonian coffee exports that amounted to roughly CFA 8.8 billion between 2020‑2022, representing about 80 % of Cameroon’s coffee sales to Algeria.

In parallel, the Vietnam Trade Office in Algeria organized a hybrid business networking conference on July 16 2026, bringing together about 20 Vietnamese firms and 15 Algerian enterprises. Vietnam’s exports to Algeria in the first five months of 2026 totaled USD 284 million, dominated by green coffee (≈85 %). Algerian participants expressed interest in importing Vietnamese spices, coffee, cashews, desiccated coconut and electronic components, while also seeking joint‑venture opportunities to supply sauces and develop seawater therapy centres.

Both initiatives signal Algeria’s broader push to diversify import sources and attract foreign investment across agriculture, food processing and manufacturing sectors.
