Algeria experiences record summer tourism and rental demand

Algeria is experiencing a record influx of summer tourists, placing significant pressure on accommodation capacities across several coastal provinces. According to data from the National Federation of Hotel and Tourism, over 55,000 beds were reserved in 14 coastal wilayas during the final ten days of August.

Due to limited hotel availability and high pricing, many travelers are increasingly turning to seasonal rentals, including houses, apartments, and hostels. Abdelwahab Boulfekhad, president of the National Federation of Hotel and Tourism, noted that these indicators confirm an exceptional level of attendance compared to previous years.

The surge is driven by members of the Algerian diaspora returning home, as well as a growing number of international tourists from Europe, the Americas, and Arab nations. While international visitors find local rates acceptable, high accommodation costs remain a sensitive issue for Algerian families due to their purchasing power.
