Algeria exports $52 million in pharmaceutical products in 2025
Algeria exported approximately $52 million worth of pharmaceutical products and medical devices in 2025, reaching 33 countries, including 18 African nations. Pharmaceutical Industry Minister Ouacim Kouidri announced these figures during a training session in Algiers, noting that the country hosts nearly 30% of the pharmaceutical factories on the African continent.
To strengthen national pharmaceutical sovereignty, Algeria has adopted its first national list of essential medicines. This list will serve as a reference to prioritize the availability of critical drugs and guide domestic production capacities. The minister emphasized a strategic shift toward optimizing production for international markets and establishing a sustainable presence abroad.
