African national football teams announce new coaching eras and squads
Several African national football teams have announced squad selections and coaching changes ahead of upcoming international fixtures and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers.
In Senegal, Patrick Vieira has officially taken charge as the new head coach. His first squad of 29 players includes regulars like Kalidou Koulibaly and Idrissa Gana Guèye, alongside newcomers such as Malang Sarr and Pape Moussa Fall. Notably, Sadio Mané is absent from the list, and defender Ismaïl Jakobs has announced his retirement from international football.
Algeria has also entered a new era under coach Brahim Hemdani. His first 26-man squad features the return of Adem Zorgane and Ahmed Touba, while several high-profile players, including Riyad Mahrez and Ismaël Bennacer, were not included. The team is preparing for matches against Zambia and Burundi.
Tunisia's Mouine Chaabani has released his squad for the CAN 2027 qualifiers, blending experienced players like Ali Maaloul with new talents. Meanwhile, Haiti's new coach David Badía has named a 24-player roster for the CONCACAF Nations League, featuring players from various European and American leagues.
