Algeria hosts regional Olympiades des métiers vocational competitions

The regional qualifications for the 2026 Olympiades des métiers are set to begin next Tuesday. Organized by the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education, the competition involves over 2,700 trainees and professionals across various sectors.

Participants will compete in several specialties spanning six professional branches, including building techniques, information and communication technologies (ICT), and design and fashion arts. The regional trials will take place over three days in five provinces: Sétif, Ouargla, Boumerdès, Sidi Bel Abbès, and El-Bayadh.

In the western region, specifically in Sidi Bel Abbès, approximately 607 candidates from ten provinces—including Oran, Tlemcen, and Mostaganem—will compete in 45 professional specialties. The event aims to promote excellence, innovation, and technical skills to meet labor market demands. The top performers from these regional rounds will qualify for the national final phase scheduled for November.
