Algeria implements administrative changes in energy sector and regional governance

Algerian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, has ordered strict adherence to the implementation timeline for the newly established National Agency for Energy Efficiency Management (NAEMEE). During a sectoral coordination meeting in Algiers, Adjal emphasized the need for regular monitoring to ensure the agency meets its objectives according to the established calendar.

NAEMEE is the result of a government reorganization that merged the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE) and the Commission for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency (CEREFE). The new entity is tasked with developing the national energy management program, conducting technical-economic studies, and performing energy audits within the industrial and building sectors.

In a separate administrative move, the Presidency of the Republic announced a partial reshuffle of regional governors (walis) affecting four provinces. The movement includes the transfer of Riad Benahmed from Batna to Aflou, Youssef Bechlaoui from Tlemcen to Batna, Mohamed Meziane from El Tarf to Béjaïa, and Kamel Nouisser from Bordj Bou Arréridj to Tlemcen. To fill the vacancies, the administration promoted local officials, including Abdelwahab Zini to El Tarf and Redouane Khelifa to Bordj Bou Arréridj, aiming to foster new dynamics in local governance.
