Algeria inaugurates automotive plastic component plant in Tissemsilt

Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb inaugurated a new production unit for plastic components and accessories for the automotive industry in Tissemsilt. The facility, known as ‘General Plastic Injection’ and part of the Algeria Chemical Specialities (ACS) holding, was established following instructions from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to reintegrate confiscated assets into the national economy.

During the visit, Ghrieb emphasized the government's commitment to increasing the national integration rate within the automotive sector. He announced that starting early next year, all approved automotive manufacturing and assembly operators in Algeria will be required to use the Tissemsilt plant for their plastic component needs, according to a forthcoming set of specifications.

The initiative aims to reduce reliance on imports and strengthen local production chains. The Prime Minister also noted that technical alternatives will be explored for importing molds to ensure production continuity, a strategy that will also be applied to the bodywork industry in Batna.
