Algeria: President Tebboune announces Civil Protection reforms

During a Council of Ministers meeting, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced a series of reforms and measures for Algeria, most notably a general salary increase for Civil Protection personnel. The reform includes a revision of their special status, an adjustment of the grade scale to better reflect administrative and operational roles, and an increase in indemnities for field agents and their families.

To address growing risks from climate change and natural disasters, the President ordered the modernization of field equipment and the gradual reinforcement of the firefighting aircraft fleet. Additionally, the government was instructed to finalize compensation for victims of recent wildfires, particularly in the Jijel region.

Other key directives included maintaining the cost of the Hajj pilgrimage at 820,000 centimes despite rising costs, and the preparation of a presidential decree to establish a secure digital interoperability plan between state institutions.
