The National Meteorological Office (ONM) has issued an orange weather alert for nine provinces in Algeria, effective Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The alert warns of heavy rainfall, with accumulations expected to reach between 20 and 40 mm in the affected areas.

The orange alert specifically targets the provinces of Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Constantine, Mila, Guelma, Souk Ahras, and Oum El Bouaghi. Additionally, a yellow alert covers a broad portion of the country, including the capital and surrounding regions, as thunderstorms and rain are expected to persist through Friday.
