Algeria launches first professional master's in Islamic financial markets
The Commission for the Organization and Supervision of Stock Exchange Operations (COSOB) has announced the launch of the first professional master's degree specializing in Islamic financial markets. Scheduled to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year, the program is being developed in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Supervised by COSOB in collaboration with the University of Algiers 3 and the Banking Training Institute, the two-year program aims to combine academic instruction with professional expertise. The curriculum will cover economic sciences, management, and commercial sciences, specifically focusing on Islamic financial markets.
The program offers 60 seats and is primarily intended for professionals and stakeholders in the financial, banking, and insurance sectors, as well as employees of listed companies. Applicants are required to hold at least a bachelor's degree and possess relevant professional experience. This initiative seeks to develop national expertise to support the mobilization of financial resources and the diversification of funding sources, including mechanisms such as Islamic sukuk.
