Algeria advances automotive component manufacturing and energy ties
Algeria is advancing its industrial strategy by prioritizing the local production of automotive components. Industry Minister Farid Kourtel met with representatives from approved vehicle manufacturers to discuss increasing the national integration rate and expanding the local subcontracting network.
A key part of this initiative involves coordinating with General Plastic Injection (GPI), a subsidiary of the ACS holding group based in Tissemsilt. GPI is tasked with manufacturing specific plastic components for various assembly plants, provided that vehicle manufacturers supply the necessary molds for production.
In a separate development regarding energy cooperation, Algerian and German industrialists are meeting in Algiers to discuss green hydrogen and energy storage. This forum follows a state visit by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Berlin and aims to turn political momentum into concrete partnerships, specifically focusing on the SoutH2 Corridor infrastructure for hydrogen exports to Europe.
