Algeria restructures national football team leadership

The Algerian Football Federation is restructuring its technical leadership following the departure of Vladimir Petkovic. Antar Yahia, the former national team captain, has been appointed as interim coach. Yahia has immediately begun communicating with international players and is working to establish an extended squad list to ensure a stable transition for the upcoming training camp.

In a parallel move, the federation has reached an agreement with Moussa Saïb to serve as the team manager. Saïb, a former midfielder and 1990 Africa Cup of Nations winner, will act as a liaison between the players, the technical staff, and the federation. This appointment aims to reintegrate experienced former internationals into the national team's organizational structure. A permanent head coach is expected to be officially named by the federation between August 20 and August 25.
