Algeria resumes international train service to Tunisia

The international rail link between Algeria and Tunisia has resumed operations following a month-long suspension. The Société nationale des transports ferroviaires (SNTF) announced that service on the Annaba-Tunis-Annaba line will return to normal on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

The suspension was caused by 20 days of infrastructure work on the Algerian section of the track between Aïn Sennour and Souk Ahras, managed by the Agence nationale d’études et de suivi de la réalisation des investissements ferroviaires (ANESRIF). This international line, spanning 357 km, connects the two nations via Annaba and Ghardimaou.

Scheduled departures from Algiers to Tunis are set for Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 09:00. In the opposite direction, Tunis to Algiers services will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 08:30. Ticket prices are listed at 1,900 DA for first class and 1,640 DA for second class.
