Algeria views Sahel stability as a national security priority

General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the Algerian People's National Army, has identified the stability of Sahel countries as a fundamental priority for Algeria's own national security. During an inspection visit to the 3rd Military Region, Chanegriha emphasized that Algeria acts as a partner rather than an external actor in addressing Sahelian crises.

He noted that the security of neighboring nations is a natural extension of Algeria's own security. To combat terrorism, extremism, and associated crimes, Chanegriha highlighted the essential link between security and comprehensive development. Following the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria is engaging in economic, developmental, and military support for the region.

These efforts include the launch of structural projects designed to strengthen shared infrastructure and create new development opportunities. Chanegriha reiterated that Algeria's regional role is based on solidarity, good neighborliness, and respect for the sovereignty and independence of states in accordance with international law.
