Algerian and Moroccan authorities dismantle criminal networks
Authorities in Algeria and Morocco have dismantled separate criminal networks involving vehicle theft and drug trafficking.
In Algiers, the National Gendarmerie of the Dar El Beïda district arrested a father and son accused of operating a gang specializing in the theft of Hyundai Accent vehicles. The investigation, triggered by a complaint filed in February 2026, utilized surveillance footage to track a stolen vehicle to the Bordj El Kiffan neighborhood. The primary suspect admitted to directing his son to commit the thefts.
In Morocco, police in Rabat arrested a police officer and his sister for suspected drug trafficking. The officer was intercepted on the highway between Tangier and Rabat with a vehicle containing 45 grams of cocaine, 5,150 psychotropic tablets, and cash. His sister was apprehended in the Aïn Aouda area. The officer has been provisionally suspended from his duties pending judicial proceedings.
