Dunkerque Port: 3.9 tonnes of cocaine seized in major drug bust
Customs officials at the port of Dunkerque, France, intercepted approximately 3.9 tonnes of cocaine hidden within a container arriving from Ghana. The shipment, consisting of 167 bales concealed in plastic waste, was reportedly destined for the port of Antwerp in Belgium.
The seizure is valued at approximately 225 million euros. Vanessa Perrée, head of the National Anti-Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office (Pnaco), confirmed that the entire quantity of the drugs has already been destroyed.
An urgent investigation has been launched by the Anti-Narcotics Office (OFAST) to identify the members of a criminal network that was already under surveillance by the national judicial police. Authorities noted that this seizure highlights a trend where traffickers are shifting operations toward secondary ports like Dunkerque to avoid the heightened security at major hubs like Le Havre.
