Algerian dinar: Euro rises while US dollar falls on parallel market
The Algerian dinar is experiencing fluctuations against major foreign currencies on the parallel market. As of Sunday, August 23, the euro has seen an increase in value at the Square Port-Saïd informal exchange in Algiers, reaching a selling rate of 276.50 dinars. This represents a slight rise compared to mid-August levels.
In contrast, the US dollar has seen a notable decline in the informal market. Exchange traders are offering the greenback at 236.50 dinars, a decrease from approximately 239 to 240 dinars recorded earlier in the month. This downward trend for the dollar is attributed to broader bearish pressures in international financial markets.
Factors such as changes in the allocation of tourist allowances and the conclusion of the summer holiday season for Algerians living abroad may also influence these market movements.
