Algerian Education Minister orders discipline for classroom video filming

Algerian Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Sadaoui, has ordered strict disciplinary action against students who film and broadcast live videos from classrooms. During a national videoconference with education directors, the minister emphasized the enforcement of Article 43 of the unified internal regulations, which prohibits the use of mobile phones and any recording or communication devices within classrooms.

Sadaoui stated that students caught violating these rules should be referred to a disciplinary council in the presence of their parents. While describing these incidents as “very isolated,” he called for respect for the ethics and sanctity of the teaching profession.

The minister also reviewed progress regarding the filling of vacant teaching positions following recent recruitment exams and warned against social media pages attempting to pressure education directorates or disrupt the application of the law.
