Algerian FA debates future of coach Vladimir Petkovic
Former international defender Djamel Benlamri told Arab Sports Studio that the Algerian national team's problems go beyond the performance of head coach Vladimir Petkovic. He said the crisis stems from deep structural issues in Algerian football and called on the sports ministry and the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) to intervene and improve the overall environment.
Media reports indicate the FAF is planning a staff reshuffle to pressure Petkovic into resigning, aiming to avoid a costly termination that could cost up to €5 million. A technical committee meeting to analyse the situation is set for Thursday, 16 July, at the CTN in Sidi Moussa, with discussions about reducing the coach's influence and appointing new staff members such as USM Alger physio Medjahed Belaïd.
