Algerian Football Federation postpones tribute for Mahrez and Mandi
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has postponed a planned tribute for former national team players Riyad Mahrez and Aïssa Mandi. Originally intended for the current international gathering, the ceremony has been rescheduled for the November international break.
Mahrez and Mandi, both 2019 African Cup of Nations champions, recently retired from international duty after earning 119 and 122 caps, respectively. The FAF aims to honor their contributions to the national team in front of Algerian supporters.
Despite the delay of the official ceremony, fans provided a spontaneous tribute during Algeria's recent match against Zambia at the Hocine-Aït-Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou. During the match, which marked the team's first official appearance since Mahrez's retirement, spectators chanted his name to honor the former captain.
