Algerian Football Federation seeks new head coach

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) is actively searching for a successor to Vladimir Petkovic, though recent reports regarding potential candidates have been clarified by involved parties.

Paulo Bento’s agent, Carlos Gonçalves, has denied rumors of a signed agreement or a breakdown in salary negotiations. While the FAF president reportedly made personal contact to gauge Bento's interest, Gonçalves stated that “there is no agreement. There never was, since no official offer was presented to us.”

Separately, Uruguayan technician Gustavo Poyet has reportedly expressed direct interest in the position. While the FAF did not initially target Poyet, he has engaged in discussions with FAF officials, including a Zoom meeting with Anthar Yahia to discuss potential collaboration. Although representatives have discussed contractual aspects, negotiations have not progressed significantly in recent days.
