Algerian football: Monsef Bakrar set for Al Ahly move as Aïssa Mandi recalls former coach Christian Gourcuff

Forward Monsef Bakrar, a 25‑year‑old Algerian international who has played 48 matches for Dinamo Zagreb, is reported to be close to signing with Egyptian champions Al Ahly. The transfer is expected to be formalised soon, ending a four‑year spell away from the African league.

Former Algeria defender Aïssa Mandi revealed that he and teammates once tried to persuade ex‑coach Christian Gourcuff not to resign after the 2016 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. Despite their appeal, Gourcuff left his post, ending a tenure that included a quarter‑final run at CAN 2015.
