Algerian housing programs face both delivery milestones and construction halts

Algeria's national housing programs are seeing mixed results across different regions. In the Annaba province, the 500 LPA (subsidized promotional housing) project in the Draa Errich new city has reached a standstill. Beneficiaries report an eight-month delay and have submitted an urgent petition to the Wali of Annaba, Abdelkrim Laamouri, seeking intervention as work has reportedly ceased entirely.

Potential reasons for the stoppage in Annaba include disputes with the construction company, the finalization of beneficiary lists, or insufficient cash flow within the National Agency for the Improvement and Development of Housing (AADL).

In contrast, Minister of Housing Mohamed Tarek Belaribi announced that approximately 1,150 AADL 3 housing units are scheduled for delivery on November 1. These units are distributed across Bordj Bou Arréridj (150), Chelghoum Laïd (400), and Oum El Bouaghi (600). Additionally, subscribers for 200,000 housing units currently under construction will soon be required to pay their second installment, with the possibility of splitting the payment into two parts currently under consideration.
