Algerian Mediator Mohamed Hattab calls human capital cornerstone of public service reform

Algerian Mediator of the Republic Mohamed Hattab chaired a coordination meeting in Algiers that reviewed field visits conducted across several wilayas. The session assessed the outcomes of those visits, identified concerns, and measured the responsiveness of public services to the mediator’s recommendations.

The mediator highlighted that investing in human resources is “the cornerstone” of the institution’s future strategy, linking training programmes to the needs observed on the ground. Emphasis was placed on enhancing professional skills in service quality, digitalisation, administrative communication and citizen request handling to modernise public action and improve service proximity.

The meeting also examined a training programme for central and local staff, aiming to align curricula with field observations and turn recommendations into concrete measures that boost performance and efficiency of the Mediator’s office.
