Algerian military aircraft fly through Poland to Russia

Algerian military transport aircraft are conducting regular flights between Algeria and Russia, frequently traversing the airspace of European Union and NATO member states, including Poland.

On October 6, 2026, an Algerian Lockheed C-130H Hercules departed from the Boufarik Air Base, flying over Italy, Croatia, Hungary, and Slovakia before entering Polish airspace. The aircraft then proceeded through Belarus to land at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow.

Reports from Defence24 indicate these are not isolated incidents. Various aircraft, including Il-76MD and LM-100J Super Hercules models, have been tracked on similar routes. These flights serve as a logistics corridor for military-technical cooperation, transporting weaponry and personnel to support Russian systems operated by Algeria. This network also links Moscow to military interests in Africa, specifically in countries like Libya, Mali, and the Central African Republic.
