Algerian officials oversee recovery and school launch in Jijel

Algerian officials have conducted inspections in the Jijel province to oversee recovery efforts and administrative launches following recent devastating wildfires.

Minister of National Education Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui officially launched the 2026-2027 school year from Jijel. He reported that renovation works on educational facilities were completed in record time to ensure a stable learning environment, following directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to rehabilitate structures damaged or affected by recent events.

Simultaneously, Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security Mohamed Hattab visited the region to ensure continued state support for wildfire victims. Hattab emphasized that social security and health coverage will remain available to assist families affected by the fires, which caused fatalities and significant property damage. The government is currently managing compensation for housing, livestock, and agricultural losses, aiming to meet deadlines set by the presidency.
