Abdelmadjid Tebboune marks National Migration Day

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune issued a message to the national community abroad on the occasion of National Migration Day. The day commemorates the 65th anniversary of the October 17, 1961, demonstrations in Paris.

In his address, Tebboune expressed pride in the loyalty and national commitment shown by Algerians living worldwide. He reaffirmed the state's commitment to protecting their interests and ensuring the security and ease of travel for citizens and their families to maintain their permanent connection to their homeland.

The President recalled the historical significance of the 1961 protests, where Algerians in Paris demonstrated against racist colonial curfew measures imposed by French authorities under the command of Maurice Papon. He noted that these protesters acted as an extension of the liberation revolution, facing colonial repression and violence, including the drowning of demonstrators in the Seine River.
