Algesa labor dispute in Algeciras sparks union showdown

The CCOO union has called for the recognition of rights for part‑time weekend and holiday workers at Algesa, the publicly owned cleaning company in Algeciras. It urged the municipal corporation to honor the collective agreement and the Workers' Statute, granting these workers priority for full‑time vacancies, and announced protests outside the town hall on successive Fridays and Thursdays.

The USO union publicly criticised CCOO, labeling its demands as inconsistent. USO pointed out that some CCOO representatives have already taken interim positions that, according to USO, should have been offered first to the part‑time staff. It argued that the campaign should also include temporary workers and that any job‑share model must prioritize all partial‑contract employees fairly.
