Alghero and Castrovillari face local administrative disputes
In Alghero, former mayor Mario Conoci has criticized the current administration regarding new criteria for municipal employee career progressions. Conoci argues that the new system grants the selection commission excessive discretionary power. He specifically noted that in a recent technical official progression, 75% of the total points—60 out of 80—are determined through a written test and an interview involving subjective evaluations such as motivation, attitude, and problem-solving skills. Conoci contends this shifts the focus away from objective professional experience and seniority.
Separately, in Castrovillari, local officials are protesting the planned suppression of the Poste Italiane branch. The Castrovillari City Council unanimously requested that the company revoke its decision to transfer management functions to Cosenza effective October 1st. Local leaders argue that the branch is vital for coordinating 104 offices across the Pollino, Sibaritide, and Tyrrhenian regions, and that its removal could weaken service quality and organizational response times in northern Calabria.
