Alghero buoy field rules revised after ministerial approval

Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) has granted a null‑o‑sta for the first set of amendments to the management disciplinary governing the buoy fields in the Capo Caccia – Isola Piana Marine Protected Area near Alghero. The changes restore a free‑anchorage zone in Porto Conte Bay near Moletto Finanza and relax the wind‑intensity limit that had been deemed overly restrictive. The revised disciplinary (2026) was adopted after extensive consultation with sailing associations, local economic operators and park authorities, and it does not limit authorized commercial activities; all operators have been allowed to continue their season.

The Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has postponed a request for a suspension of the disciplinary filed by several local businesses, setting a substantive hearing for 20 January 2027, meaning the 2026 rules remain fully effective in the interim. Additional measures include the installation of mooring cables on sandy seabeds away from Posidonia meadows, a step aimed at protecting marine flora while ensuring swimmer safety.
