Alghero councilors demand urgent safety measures on Via Barraccu

Local councilors in Alghero—Christian Mulas, Gianni Martinelli, Alberto Bamonti, and Marco Colledanchise—are urging the municipal administration to address urgent safety concerns on Via Barraccu. The road lacks sidewalks in several sections, forcing pedestrians to walk in the roadway or in extremely narrow spaces alongside moving and parked vehicles.

The situation is particularly hazardous during school arrival and dismissal hours, as the street runs along the rear perimeter of the Enrico Fermi Scientific High School. Councilors are calling for the immediate implementation of a protected pedestrian lane, potentially utilizing the space between the school wall and existing parking areas, to prevent accidents involving students.
